The reforms Sri Lanka needs

Sri Lanka's crippled economy requires immediate and robust reforms. India faced similar adversity when PV Narasimha Rao pulled the country out of the economic crisis in 1991. Will new president Ranil Wickremesinghe follow the example of India's 1991 reforms to save his country and economy?

A formal, opportune BIMSTEC

The recently concluded BIMSTEC summit is now a regional intergovernmental organization with a formal charter, giving it a clear mission and legality and a destiny linked to South and South East Asia. It is now better equipped to accelerate economic development for the fifth of the world’s population, which contributes only 4% of global GDP.

Has global geopolitics turned multipolar?

The Quad Foreign Ministers' meeting held on February 11 is the latest example of growing geopolitical cooperation. Several loci of power have emerged, indicating the end of the post-Cold War western hegemony. China's rise and alliance with Russia hints at a bipolar tendency in this nascent global multipolarity. India must ensure power distribution in Asia by sharpening its diplomacy to achieve its own interest - true multipolarity in Asia.
