T20 Mumbai

India’s first Think20 (T20) regional consultation on “Turkey, India and the G20″ brought together think tank experts from Turkey, China, India and Australia, business leaders from India and diplomatic representatives from the G20 countries to discuss issues concerning the G20. The observations and recommendations from the T20 meeting will be officially sent to the Turkish G20 Presidency.

Dr. Raghuram Rajan, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, delivered the keynote address at the meeting. The keynote session was followed by a Joint Think Tank and Business Session on “Assessing the Impact of Geopolitics on Business”. The session was moderated by Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Manipal Global Education; founder member, Gateway House; former CFO, Infosys Technologies. The panelists were Ambassador Halit Bozkurt Aran, Head of multilateral division, TEPAV, Turkey; Yaduvendra Mathur, Chairman EXIM Bank India; Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Rare Enterprises and founder member Gateway House; Seshadri Chari, Executive Director, Forum for Strategic & Security Studies. Read more


The Keynote

Dr. Raghuram Rajan, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, delivered the keynote address at India’s first Think20 (T20) meeting organised by Gateway House with TEPAV, on the “Global Economy and Challenges for Multilateral Policies.” In his 36-minute speech, he urged emerging markets like India to develop their own capacity to provide new ideas to the global financial system, “hold the pen” that will write a more inclusive agenda, and strengthen global multilateral institutions.

Opening Statement by Dr. Burak Akçapar, Ambassador of Turkey to India

Turkey’s Ambassador to India Dr. Burak Akçapar‘s opening statement for T20 Mumbai was about the progress of the G20 under Turkey’s presidency and G20’s growing responsibility to the world. An abridged version of this speech was delivered by Turkey’s Consul General in Mumbai, Erdal Sabri Ergen, at the T20 Mumbai regional consultation meeting on 19 October.
