The race for the White House starts in Iowa

The outcome of the Iowa caucus has been stunning for both parties, where Donald Trump’s defeat as well as Hillary Clinton’s near defeat was not foreseen by anyone. All eyes have now turned to the New Hampshire primaries where Hillary Clinton beat Barack Obama in 2008, but went on to lose the Democratic nomination.

Obama needs to rethink, urgently

A resurgent Taliban has turned a hopeful declaration by the Obama administration into a premature one. The levels of U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan, currently at 9,800, are expected to increase as a result. But with more than half a trillion dollars spent trying to stabilize the problem, perhaps it’s time to rethink the Af-Pak region.

India’s Ballistic Missile Tests in 2015

Over the course of 2015, India conducted eight ballistic missile tests. The range of these missiles varies from as low as 250 kms of Dhanush to as high as 8000 kms of Agni V. Most of these missiles were tested from the integrated test range at Odisha's former Wheeler Island, which was renamed Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island in honour of India’s ‘Missile Man’.

Friendship with France: On a new high?

French President Hollande was the chief guest at the Republic Day parade on 26 January 2016. India-France relations, post President Hollande’s visit, are promising, and will have a positive impact on Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled visit to Brussels later this year including India's trade with the EU.
