Briefing for the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) Delegation

On 1 June, Gateway House organised an event for a delegation from the Royal College of Defence Studies, United Kindgom. Sameer Patil, Director, Centre for International Security & Fellow, National Security Studies, and Sifra Lentin, Bombay History Fellow, Gateway House, briefed them on ‘‘Make in India’ and Defence Sector’, and ‘Mumbai’s harbour & port: Its early strategic history (1668-1858)’, respectively. The defence briefing involved description of India’s defence sector, including defense technology and defence diplomacy with emphasis given to Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign. Lentin’s briefing discussed the history of Mumbai’s ports and harbours and past naval conflicts that have impacted Mumbai.
