Tata Institute of Social Sciences conducted the IBTEDA event on the 21st and 22nd February. The theme of the discussion was “Contesting spaces and negotiating nation: A dialogue on the geographies of power, politics and citizenship in India”.

Neelam Deo, Director, Gateway House was invited to speak on the panel  discussion titled ‘Elephant, dragon & stars and stripes: A long telegram from the interstellar spaces of foreign policy’. She was in conversation with Richard Bale, Consul General of Canada, Mumbai and Mark Pierce, Australian Consul General, Mumbai.

Neelam has been the Indian Ambassador to Denmark and Ivory Coast with concurrent accreditation to several West African countries. She has also served in Indian embassies in Washington D.C., Bangkok and Rome. Her last assignment was as Consul General in New York. Her most challenging mission was liaising with the U.S. congress on strategic issues in Washington DC.
