2015 G20 Think Tank Summit in Beijing

The 2015 G20 Think Tank Summit was held in Beijing, China from July 30 to August 1. It was hosted by and organized by Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY).

Akshay Mathur, Director of Research, and geoeconomics fellow at Gateway House, attended the Summit. He delivered a speech at the Summit and submitted an essay on one of the discussion topics. The submitted essays will be compiled and published in both English and Chinese editions.

The topic of of the summit was “Global Governance and Open Economy.” The purpose of the conference was to better examine global economic growth problems and possible policy solutions and to promote communication and research cooperation amongst G-20 think tanks on global governance. Some of the topics included: “G20 and Global Economic Renewal”, “G20, Financial Reform and Global Governance”, “Opportunities and Challenges Confronting G20 under New Circumstances”, and “Suggestions for 2016 G20 China Presidency”.

The Summit participants and attendees consisted of political dignitaries, foreign ambassadors to China, representatives from think tanks, international organisations, scholars, experts, and leaders of Fortune 500 companies.
