India, China summit shows need for cooperation despite differences

Beijing (dpa) – “India and China can achieve a lot together,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Wednesday, on the eve of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first trip to China as premier.

The leaders of the two predominant powers in mainland Asia have much to talk about during Modi’s three-day visit, with economic issues highest on the agenda.

Both Chinese President Xi Jinping, 61, and Modi, 64, have set their countries on course for economic reforms.
