Expert hopeful over Indo-US ties

The recent “rough patch” in Indo-US relations over the arrest of diplomat Devyani Khobragade would not have a long-term effect in the countries’ newfound partnership which has seen several milestones in the last decade, according to Professor Marshall Bouton. He is the president of the Chicago Council of Global Affairs and was in Mumbai on the invitation of Indian Council of Global Relations.
While acknowledging that the Khobragade incident episode was “definitely unfortunate”, he said it shouldn’t leave a lasting imprint on future relations between the two countries, which have seen increasing levels of partnership in several areas.
