Christine Lagarde, the chief of International Monetary Fund (IMF), will visit India from March 19-20. During her visit, she is expected to meet India’s Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee and also participate in a conference on ‘China and India Sustaining High Quality Growth’.

“Organised by the IMF, the China Society for Finance and Banking and the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), the conference would focus on identifying policies that are key to sustaining strong and inclusive growth over the medium term in India and China,” said an IMF spokesperson. The conference is part of the strengthened ongoing engagement between the IMF and Asia.

Lagarde is also expected to attend a round table discussion on ‘Ensuring Strong Growth in the Post-Crisis Global Economy’ scheduled for March 20.

Before visiting India, the IMF chief will also visit China on March 17-18 and participate in the China Development Forum.
