India-Japan: Realising the partnership

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be in Japan from 27 – 29 May for the annual India-Japan Summit; setting the stage for an upgraded relationship with Japan. In 2012, the India-Japan bilateral trade stood at $18.43 billion – a 34% increase from the previous year. Given the level of Japanese investment in India and the deepening strategic importance of our bilateral relations, there needs to be more dialogue on what both nations expect from each other, both strategically and economically.

Gateway House, on May 28, hosted Juntaro Shimizu, Deputy Director General, Japan External Trade Organizations (JETRO) and Soichi Yamamoto, Deputy Director, Infrastructure Business Division, Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry in conversation with Suneet Weling, Executive Director, Kotak Mahindra Capital, to discuss ‘India-Japan: Realizing the partnership.’

Gateway House meetings are for members and special invitees only, and they are off-the-record and not-for-attribution. If you are interested in becoming a member, click here for more details.
