With Paris accord, India turns toward global engagement

Gateway House was quoted in an article by Nikkei Asian Review on India's ratification of the Paris climate agreement and its foreign policy implications.

Below is the quote from Gateway House,

India has reserved the right to burn coal for now and clean up its act later, “like every other major economy has done so far,” says Indian international relations think tank Gateway House. While some countries have specified years in which their emissions are to peak, the text of the agreement itself is lenient on the matter, saying only that parties aim to reach a global peak “as soon as possible.”
