The Gulf comes to India

The Ministry of External Affairs republished on its website an article written for the Gateway House website by Ambassador Rajendra Abhyankar on the significance of the recent spate visits to India by high-level dignitaries from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Iran

Talks between India the delegations visiting this week from Saudi Arabia and Iran will revolve on energy, trade, investment and regional security. High level visitors to India from Bahrain last week also focussed on the economy. It is in India’s interests to carry forward this momentum even after the general elections
High-level delegations from three countries – Saudi Arabia, Iran and Bahrain – are visiting India this month. It is not clear whether the visits coming together in the span of a few days, and at a time when India is gearing up for national elections, is by accident or design.
