KATHMANDU: The People’s SAARC Regional Convergence began at Nepal Administrative Staff College, Lalitpur, with the slogan of ‘People’s Movement Uniting South Asia for Deepening Democracy, Social Justice and Peace’ today ahead of the 18th SAARC Summit scheduled for November 26-27 in Kathmandu..

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bamdev Gautam inaugurated the three-day convergence participated by some 500 civil society activists from all eight member states of the SAARC.

The civil society members have gathered to push the agendas from civil society perspective to the formal process of SAARC. People’s SAARC is a regional body of the South Asian civil society.
