Like a pretty but poor maiden being courted by two rich suitors, Nepal’s devastation caused by the magnitude 8.1 earthquake has brought to the fore the intense rivalry between the two Asian giants for the country’s “assent.”

While other nations that have sent relief goods, manpower and money to help rescue Nepalese citizens still trapped in the rubbles and to assist the nation rise from its physical destruction, the motives of New Delhi and Beijing in rushing aid to Katmandu are being held suspect by Asian experts.
