From May 19 to 21, 2019, Shri T.S. Tirumurti, Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and Shri B. Bala Bhaskar, Joint Secretary (WANA) visited Damascus, Syria. They held discussions with the Syrian Prime Minister H.E. Eng. Imad Khamis, Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Waleed Moallem, and other cabinet ministers. During the meetings, Secretary (ER) Shri T.S. Tirumurti highlighted the close relationship between Indian and Syria. Syria was grateful of India’s political support to the country, and the Secretary (ER) restated the importance of a Syria-led political process.
