U.S. Defence Secretary Ashton Carter to visit India

On December 8, U.S. Defence Secretary Ashton Carter will visit India as part of his last state visit. While here, he will meet with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. The agenda of the visit will include reviewing the progress of initiatives taken to deepen cooperation of technology, the Indian navy’s acquisition of the Guardian drone for surveillance of the Indian Ocean, and the finalisation of provisions for ‘Major Defence Partner’, which was designated by the U.S. earlier this year.

India is one of several stops on his last visit that will also include Japan, Bahrain, Israel, Italy and the UK.
