Turkey’s Chief of General Staff, General Necdet Ozel, will visit India from April 2-4. During this three day visit, he will meet the Chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy and the Air Force, General Bikram Singh, Admiral D. K. Joshi, and Air Chief Marshall N. A. K. Browne, respectively.
Before his arrival in India, he is scheduled to meet his counterparts in Pakistan.
This visit is in tune with India’s engagement with Turkey in the defence sector. According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, defence cooperation between the two nations is being strengthened, with a bilateral agreement on cooperation in defence presently under consideration.
New Delhi’s last defence engagement with Ankara was during Turkey’s Naval Commander Admiral Emin Murat Bilgel’s visit to India in November 2012.
