Theresa May to visit India

Theresa May to visit India

From November 6 to 8, British Prime Minister Theresa May will visit India as part of her first bilateral state visit outside of the European Union. Prime Minister May will lead a trade delegation which will aim to focus on building a relationship between small and medium sized UK businesses and the Indian market.

Whilst the UK cannot enter into a direct trade agreement with India as long as it as a member of the European Union, the visit is a part of a larger round of early negotiations set to be conducted with various countries, as it prepares for withdrawal from the EU and the European single market.

While in India, she and Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the UK-India Technology Summit that will run from November 7 to 9 in New Delhi.
