The U.S.-India-Iran impasse

The U.S.-India-Iran impasse

India and the U.S. have parallel but not congruent interests. Given its immediacy, both countries should work together to resolve the Iranian issue. While India is facing pressure from the U.S. to cut its ties with Iran, the Islamic Republic is seen as likely to develop a nuclear program that some countries, like Israel, perceive as a threat. Some experts have even put a 40% probability on Israel attacking Iranian nuclear facilities.

Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations hosted Ambassador Frank Wisner, the former U.S. envoy to India, Egypt and the Philippines, to discuss the U.S.-India impasse on Iran. The event was moderated by Gateway House’s Director Ambassador Neelam Deo.
