The President of the Republic of Korea visits India

The President of the Republic of Korea, Park Geun-hye, will visit India from January 15-18. During her four-day visit, she will meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, among other senior officials.

The two sides are expected to discuss bilateral, regional and global issues. President Park is likely to take up the long-delayed $12 billion POSCO project in Odisha which has been mired in environmental and land acquisition issues. She is also likely to present the capacity of Korean companies in civil nuclear energy to the Indian side.

India and South Korea share close bilateral and trade ties. The two countries have signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement in 2010. In 2011, bilateral trade crossed $20 billion.
