The Future of Brazilian Growth

Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations hosted Professor Renato Galvão Flôres from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), a Brazilian think tank, in conversation with Ajit Ranade, chief economist at the Aditya Birla Group, for a discussion on the future of Brazilian growth. The discussion ranged from Brazil’s historical economic trends and background to the political stability it now enjoys, and also included some issues such as green energy, infrastructure, energy dependence, current political structure, national security concerns.

Professor Flôres has in the past served as FGV’s Research Director (1999-2000) and International (Academic) Relations Co-ordinator (2001 to 2003).  He is affiliated with several global organisations, including the World Trade Organisation, the Academic Committee of the Centro Brasileiro de Relações Internacionais and the European Community Studies Association. His formal training and degrees encompass the areas of Systems Engineer; M.B.A., Financial Engineering; M.Sc., Mathematical Statistics and Ph.D., Economics.
