On 24 March 2022, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Sifra Lentin, Bombay History Fellow, moderated the discussion, Uncovering Urban Legacies: The Chinese Heritage of Bombay, hosted by Avid Learning in collaboration with Gateway House. The panellists included Vidura Jang Bahadur, Photographer, Annie Chen, Founder of Chen’s Hair & Beauty Salon, and Madhavi Thampi, Honourary Fellow, Institute of Chinese Studies.
The live session traced the unique culture of Chinese settlers in Bombay to understand their legacy. It explored the historical, geographical, and sociocultural influence of the Chinese community in the city and its surroundings since the late 18th century.
