Faisal Mekdad, Syria’s deputy foreign minister, is on a three-day visit to New Delhi to ask India for its support amidst violent protests back home.
After meeting Indian foreign minister S.M. Krishna, Syria’s Mekdad told Indian media that he is here to “brief the Indian leadership against the prefabricated misinformation and on the unrealistic propaganda machinery against Syria.”
As western nations condemn the violence in Syria, the incumbent Bashar al-Assad regime is looking towards India – as head of the UN Security council – for support in the international community.
