Sushma Swaraj's Southeast Asia Tour

From January 4 to 8, Sushma Swaraj will be on a five day tour to Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore to boost India’s ties with them.

Swaraj will visit Thailand on January 4 and 5 where she will hold bilateral talks with her counterpart Don Pramudwinai to discuss cooperation on political, defense and economic ties.

She will later visit Indonesia on January 5 and 6 where she will co-chair the fifth meeting of India-Indonesia Joint Commission with her Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi.

Swaraj will also attend a banquet hosted by Marsudi in her honour and inaugurate the second meeting of ASEAN-India Network of Think Tanks.

Swaraj is then expected to meet the President of Indonesia, the new Secretary General of ASEAN Lim Jock How, and interact with representatives of the Indian community in Indonesia.

During her Singapore visit from January 6 to 8, Swaraj will hold bilateral meetings with Singaporean leaders.

She will also inaugurate the Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) of ASEAN countries on January 7. The theme of the event is ‘Ancient Route, New Journey: Diaspora in the Dynamic ASEAN-India Partnership’.

In her visits, Swaraj will share information on the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit, which marks 25 years since the establishment of dialogue partnership between Indian and ASEAN.
