John Bercow, Speaker of the British House of Commons, is on a four-day visit to India, upon an invitation from Meira Kumar, Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Bercow will hold meetings with Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari, Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna and other members of the Indian government.
On his upcoming visit, Becrow stated to the press that he is keen on seeing how Indians, as part of the largest democracy, “execute their business of holding the executive to account and pass legislation”.
