Modi attends SCO Summit

From June 13, 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. On the sidelines, PM Modi met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. PM Modi accepted Putin’s invite to be the Chief Guest for Russia’s Eastern Economic Forum in September.

The SCO member states stated that the international community must work towards a consensus on adopting the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) which makes it binding on all signatories to deny funds and safe havens to terrorist groups.

On June 14, India and Kyrgyzstan prepared a five-year road map to increase bilateral trade. Addressing the inaugural India-Kyrgyz Business Forum, PM Modi stated that India and Kyrgyzstan have drafted a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) and bilateral investment treaty.
