Meeting with Trinidad & Tobago’s Prime Minister

Meeting with Trinidad & Tobago’s Prime Minister

Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations co-hosted, with Confederation of Indian Industries, an exclusive interactive session with the Honorable Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago (T & T). Gateway House’s Director Ambassador Neelam Deo also moderated a panel with representatives from both Indian Industry and T&T Government Ministries on the benefits of bilateral trade between the two nations. Trinidad and Tobago, where people of Indian origin make up forty percent of the population, has large oil and gas reserves and is eager to strengthen its historic ties with India.

The panel discussion took place after a speech from Honorable Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar, who herself is of Indian origin and the first female Prime Minister of T&T. The discussion ranged from topics of success stories of investing experiences in T & T, to aspirations of utilizing T&T’s geographical location as a launch pad for expanding India’s presence in the Americas.
