From 10-12 January, Maldives Foreign Minister Mohamed Asim along with The Special Envoy of the President, visited India.
The Special Envoy and the Foreign Minister were received by Prime Minister Modi and held discussions with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
The discussions centred around strengthening of the development partnership between India and Maldives and enhancing defence and security cooperation. They also discussed the ties as close neighbours bound by shared history, culture and maritime interests in the Indian Ocean.
Special Envoy Asim reiterated the commitment of Maldives to maintain close relations with India under Maldives’ India First policy.
