Between 25-26 August 2019, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met his Hungarian counterpart, and held talks on various multilateral issues. Indian Ambassador to Hungary, Kumar Tuhin and senior officials from Hungary received him.
Jaishankar held talks with Foreign Minister of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto. A cultural exchange program between India and Hungary was also signed by the two leaders.
This visit was keeping in mind the government’s priority of boosting ties with smaller nations. It also comes some time after Vice President, M. Venkaiah Naidu visited the three Baltic countries of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia from August 17-21, in what was the first-ever kind of such high-level visit from India.
