On May 14, 2019, the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif visited New Delhi for discussions with Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on the effect of the US sanctions on Iran’s oil industry. On a short visit, Zarif met with Swaraj to explore their options in retaining their energy relations. India also sought information from the Iranian Foreign Minister on the latest status of the Iran nuclear deal after the Government of Iran threatened to reassess certain provisions.
