International Atomic Energy Agency Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Safety

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will host a meeting with ministers from IAEA member states to address issues regarding nuclear energy. The meeting will be take place in Vienna, Austria, from June 20-24.

The nuclear debate, recently fuelled by Germany and Switzerlands’ decision to phase out nuclear power 2022 and 2034 respectively, is likely to revolve around nuclear safety and regulation. The IAEA will also submit an assessment of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident that was triggered by the earthquake in Japan on March 11.
