India’s Foreign Minister visits Israel

India's Foreign Minister visits Israel

India’s Foreign Minister, S. M. Krishna, will make a three-day visit to Jerusalem, starting January 9th. Apart from signing an extradition treaty, India will engage with Israel in areas such as agriculture, counter terrorism, and also continue negotiations for a free trade agreement.

Krishna will meet Israeli leaders, including President Simon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as the Palestinian Authority President, Mahmoud Abbas. After visits by four Israeli ministers to India in 2010, India-Israel exchanges seem to be gathering momentum, which have made for new areas of cooperation – like Israel’s Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz’s offer to sell India natural gas.
