Indian Defence Minister visits Russia



Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony will be on a three day visit to Russia starting October 3rd. The Indian delegation will be lead by A.K. Antony and will be escorted by a high level delegation that includes Defence Secretary Shashikant Sharma, , Lt. Gen. M.S. Buttar, Vice Admiral N.N. Kumar among others.

Antony will also co-chair the 11th meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation with his Russian counterpart Anatoly E. Serdyukov.

The two sides will discuss regional and global security issues and will also evaluate the development of ongoing projects such as the INS Vikramaditya and the delivery of Talwar class frigates and on the Multi- role Transport Aircraft.  Additionally the two sides will also consider the maintenance of T-90 main battle tanks and Sukhoi Su-30 MKI combat jets in India. The two countries have ratified an accord for the joint design, development and production of fifth generation fighter aircrafts involving the Sukhoi Design Bureau on the Russian side and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited on the Indian side.
