India-U.S. Strategic Dialogue

India’s Minister of External Affairs Shri S.M. Krishna and the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will meet in Washington on June 13, 2012, for the third annual meeting of the U.S.–India Strategic Dialogue.

The topics for discussion will include bilateral and regional economic engagement, public health, innovation, regional security and defense, agriculture, and women’s empowerment.  High-level officials from both governments will discuss issues of common concern and examine ways to leverage our broad people-to-people partnership for improving the quality of life for our respective citizens. The dialogue will also cover other crucial issues such as cyber security, illicit financing, education and transnational crimes. India is also likely to seek assistance for U.S. technology in checking the flow Indian currency notes.

At the Strategic Dialogue, Krishna would be accompanied by Home Secretary RK Singh, deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations Sam Pitroda, Science and Technology Minister Vilasrao Desmukh, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Minister of State for Women & Child Development Krishna Tirath, Minister of State Ashwin Kumar and other officials

While the Strategic Dialogue in itself is scheduled for June 13, a series of high-level official and non-official meetings have been scheduled for next week.
