India in the Indo-Pacific: Pursuing Prosperity and Security

On 1 February 2022, Gateway House, supported by the United States Embassy, New Delhi, organised a panel discussion on “India in the Indo-Pacific: Pursuing Prosperity and Security”. The event explored the comprehensive role that India can play in the Indo-Pacific, from energy and environment, to trade, security, technology and a vibrant diaspora.

The event was opened with a welcome address by Manjeet Kripalani, Executive Director and co-founder, Gateway House, and Patricia Lacina, Chargé d’Affaires, United States Embassy, New Delhi, followed by a keynote address by Amb. Saurabh Kumar, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The discussion was moderated by Amb. Rajiv Bhatia, Distinguished Fellow for Foreign Policy Studies, Gateway House. The panellists included Lisa Curtis, Senior Fellow and Director, Indo-Pacific Security Program, Center for a New American Security, C. Raja Mohan, Visiting Research Professor at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), NUS, and Harsha Bangari, Managing Director, EXIM Bank India.

Closing remarks were given by Amb. Navdeep Suri, Distinguished Fellow, ORF, and Former High Commissioner of India to Australia.
