The Director Generals Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and China will meet inside the Indian territory on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on April 22. A Chinese delegation led by People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) Deputy Chief of General Staff (Operations) Lieutenant General Qi Jianguo will meet with his Indian counterpart Director General Military Operations Lieutenant General PR Kumar. The two sides will discuss the issue of incursions and face-offs by PLA troops on the Line of Actual Control. On April 23, the delegation is expected to meet Indian Defence Minister A K Antony.
The DGMO meeting is part of the Border Defence Co-operation Agreement (BDCA) signed by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese premier Li Keqiang in October 2013. The BDCA aims to maintain peace, stability and tranquility in the region, and to implement confidence building measures amongst the troops alongside the border.
India has witnessed repeated border incursion attempts by the Chinese PLA troops in the past year including the Depsang incident in April 2013.
