From October 7-9, the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group conducted their annual meetings in Washington D.C. The meetings were attended by finance ministers, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organizations and academics from 189 member states. While the meetings generally take stock of the global economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness, a running theme throughout the talks was local currency debt.
