Geopolitical contestations in cyberspace

On 20 December 2021, the Gateway House-FLAME Policy Lab hosted a webcast on geopolitical contestations in cyberspace. The discussion focused on geopolitical rivalries in cyberspace, implications of growing cyberattacks for government and businesses, and India’s response to the growing cybersecurity challenges. The Policy Lab also released a database on cybersecurity issues, compiled by Sameer Patil, former Fellow, International Security, Gateway House, Dr. Aditya Bhan, Assistant Professor in Economics, FLAME University, and Interns Diviyaj Patel and Khushi Rajpuria.

The panelists included Ambassador Latha Reddy, former Deputy National Security Adviser, India and Co-Chair, Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace, Gunjan Chawla, Programme Manager at National Security Center of Communication Governance at National Law University, Delhi, and Atul Khatavkar, cybersecurity and data privacy expert. A moderated discussion on cybersecurity and communication governance was led by Sameer Patil and opening remarks were given by Dr. Aditya Bhan.
