G7 Summit, France

Prime Minister Modi traveled to Biarritz on August 25th, 2019 to attend the G7 summit where India has been invited as a partner country. During the Summit, Prime Minister participated in Sessions on Environment, Climate, Oceans and Digital Transformation. He also had the below bilateral meetings at the sidelines:

India-USA: The Prime Minister in his meeting with the US President apprised the latter regarding the abrogation of article 370 in Kashmir and told him that the decision taken was an internal issue. The two leaders also discussed various other topics such as trade and energy.

India-UK: This was the first meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Boris Johnson after the latter became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The meeting focused on bilateral relationship and how both countries can build economic and commercial partnerships post Brexit.

India-Senegal: India has substantial bilateral relations with Senegal. The bilateral meeting discussed how both countries could develop further cooperation and build partnerships with the West African states especially in renewable energy.

India-UNSG: Prime Minister had a brief meeting with the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutteres and discussed matters relating to climate change and the upcoming UN climate summit in September. Prime Minister pitched his new initiative Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure which he is going to present at the United Nations General Assembly.
