Foreign Secretary's interaction with CII

Foreign Secretary, Harsh Vardhan Shringla held a virtual interactive session today with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at their request to discuss their engagement in the industry and business related aspects of G20 and B20, and how they could actively engage as India assumes the Chair of G20 in 2022.

The session was attended by CII President Mr. Vikram Kirloskar, CII Director General Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee and other past Presidents of CII including Mr. Venu Srinivasan, Mr. Dhruv M Sawhney, Mr. Hari S Bhartia, Mr. R. Seshasayee and Mr. Naushad Forbes.

Foreign Secretary outlined the role of G20 in addressing the COVID-19 crisis and the outcomes of the Extraordinary Virtual G20 Leaders Summit that took place on 15 March 2020. He said that the G20 represents 2/3rds of the global population and has agreed upon a plan of action in tackling public health, economic and livelihood impact of the pandemic.
