Foreign Office Consultations between India and Iran

The sixteenth round of Foreign Office Consultations between India and Iran were held in Tehran on September 16. Foreign Secretary Shri Vijay Gokhale led the Indian delegation and Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Seyyed Abbas Araghchi led the Iranian side. Foreign Secretary Shri Vijay Gokhale also called on H.E. Dr. Javad Zarif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran and H.E. Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, Senior Advisor to Supreme Leader.

During the Consultations, the two sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation, ongoing connectivity and infrastructure development projects including development of Shahid Behesthi Port, Chabahar and full operationalization of the Trilateral Transit Agreement (Chabahar Agreement) between India, Iran and Afghanistan. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
