The fifth summit conference of the Association of SAARC Speakers and Parliamentarians will be held in New Delhi on July 9-12. The conference will be attended by representatives from countries part of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and will be inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The discussions will focus on two themes: “Consolidating Democracy: Strengthening trust between parliament and the people” and “Sustainable development in SAARC countries – the way forward”.
The conference gives India and Pakistan the opportunity to discuss matters before the foreign ministers of the countries meet later this month.
