From 3-4 September 2019, Indian External Affairs Minister visited Maldives. During the visit, he met with Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid. The visit resulted in the signing of the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty on criminal matters between the two countries as well as in the setting up of the new Chancery building of Embassy of India in the Diplomatic Enclave in Hulhumale.
During the visit, External Affairs Minister also participated in the Indian Ocean Conference 2019 and held meetings with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Renil Wickremasinghe, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Nandacoomar Bodha and Secretary General of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Sayyid bin Hamad Albusaidi.
