External Affairs Minister's visit to China

On 12 August 2019, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, paid an official visit to China. He met with Vice President Wang Qishan and discussed the evolving global situation and the rise of India and China as two large developing countries.

He also had a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Wang Yi. International, regional and bilateral issues were discussed. With regard to the recent legislation passed on Jammu & Kashmir, Minister S Jaishankar conveyed that this was an internal matter for India. The issue related to changes in a temporary provision of the Constitution of India and was the sole prerogative of the country. The aim of these legislative measures was to promote improved governance and socio-economic development.
