Brazil's President visits India

After the conclusion of the fourth BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) summit on March 29th in New Delhi, the President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff will hold bilateral talks with India’s Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, from March 30-31. They are expected to hold discussions on a gamut of bilateral as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

In the year 2006, during the visit of former Brazilian President Lula da Silva, both countries upgraded the India-Brazil bilateral relations to a ‘Strategic Partnership.’ Bilateral trade between the two countries has also grown exponentially in the last few years; it reached US$ 9.28 billion in 2011. India’s export to Brazil registered a growth of 16% from 2010.

This would be Rousseff’s first visit to India after taking office as president in the beginning of the last year.
