6th India-ASEAN Delhi Dialogue

The sixth India-ASEAN Delhi Dialogue was held in New Delhi on March 6-7.

India was represented by Indian Minister of External Affairs Salman Khurshid. High level officials like Lê Lýõng Minh, Secretary General, ASEAN; U Wunna Maung Lwin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar; Dato’ Hamzah Zainudin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia; among others attended the event.

Realizing the ASEAN-India Vision for Partnership and Prosperity was the overarching theme of the dialogue. The topics of discussion for this year’s dialogue  included the ‘Role of North East India in India’s Look-East Policy,’ and ‘Regional Architecture in Asia Pacific: Roles of India and ASEAN.’ For the first time, the chief ministers of the north eastern states of India were part of the inaugural session to share their vision of the ASEAN-India strategic partnership.

An annual event, the India-ASEAN Delhi Dialogue is an international conference which brings together political and economic leaders, academics and opinion-makers of ASEAN countries to discuss ways  to intensify and broaden political, strategic, economic and civil society interaction.
