The 2016 Think 20 Summit was held in Beijing on the 29-30 July, one month prior to this year’s G20 summit in Hangzhou, organised by the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, and the Renmin University of China (RDCY). Under the overall heading of “Building New Global Relationships — New Dynamics, New Vitality, New Prospects”, think tank experts, politicians and representatives of international organisations from 25 countries worldwide discussed diverse issues spanning global governance, sustainable development, the relationship between regional trade agreements and the multilateral trade system, among many others.

Akshay Mathur, Director of Research and Fellow of Geoeconomic Studies, Gateway House, participated in a panel dialogue on “Global Governance: System Improving and the Capacity Building” alongside academics and think tank representatives from China, Russia, Spain, Italy, Japan, Egypt, Canada, and Australia.
