The India-U.S. Partnership: $1 Trillion by 2030

President Obama’s visit to India on 26 January 2015 is historic for many reasons – it is the second time he will visit India while in office and it will be the first time for an American head of state to be the chief guest at India’s Republic Day parade. The U.S’ reaffirmed commitment to the Bilateral Investment Treaty and defence cooperation are also significant milestones.

Anticipating a renewed vigour in the bilateral, Gateway House has published a research paper titled “The India-U.S. Partnership: $1 Trillion by 2030” by Nish Acharya, Visiting Fellow, India-U.S. Studies. On January 29, Gateway House hosted a meeting to discuss the different path as advocated by the paper to advance the India-U.S. bilateral, one that will bring India into the group of the three other countries outside of the G7 which have a deep economic relationship with the U.S.

This was the 18th meeting in the Gateway House G20 series.
