Sushma Swaraj to attend Bandung conference in Indonesia

Sushma Swaraj will travel to Indonesia from April 21-24, 2015.

She will attend the commemoration of the 1955 Asian-African conference, also known as the Bandung conference, as well as the 10th anniversary of the new Asian-African strategic partnership.

The first Bandung conference, held in 1955, was a meeting between of 29 African and Asian nations. Former Indian Prime Minister Nehru was a key player in conceptualising the Bandung conference and inviting the participants. The conference famously led to the establishment of the Nonaligned movement.

Indonesia is India’s second largest trading partner in the ASEAN region. Bilateral trade and investment between India and Indonesia amounts to $ 20.1 billion (2013-14). The two countries have set the target of $25 billion by 2015.
