The Indian Ocean Conference, organized by the India Foundation was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 31 August to September 1. India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was the Vice-Chair of the organising committee. The key theme for this conference was peace, progress and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region.
Swaraj and Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar were invited to participate. Alice Wells who is the U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of State in-charge of South and Central Asia and also the Acting Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan was also scheduled to speak at this Conference.
